Joe Noel

I am a young singer/songwriter originally based in Gloucestershire and now find myself between the South West and South East writing catchy, melodic songs about dreams, drives and impulses.
Previously in the Rhetoric, I decided to try my own thing when my song writing tastes developed further and I felt like a change.
This latest collection of songs on Victoria’s Place still features the characteristic syncopated acoustic guitar alongside gentle picked arpeggios familiar to those who have seen me perform live on my own, but offers a depth in new band arrangements of previous songs that give an extra punch, drive and, most importantly, groove. The live show with or without a band is exciting, inviting and full of wit. Miriam (BBC Gloucestershire) wrote “His voice is high pitched and his style is untraceable…this is not a man who is afraid of improvisation”. For me, the most enjoyable aspect of music is the feeling that something you have written has got to someone be it a rhythm, melody or lyric.

Will Kevans

Will Kevans is a UK-based singer-songwriter and master of the catchy pop tune and lyric. His song, ‘Dialling Tone’, recently won Will an award in the prestigious ‘International Songwriting Competition’. It has also been featured on a compilation album released by Universal alongside artists such as James Morrison, the Goo Goo Dolls and Keane.

Dante

Dante is a Cheltenham-based singer-songwriter, who’s passion for acoustic intimacy and knack for good, old-fashioned pop hooks seep through his thought-provoking, organic repertoire. His lyrics, which fluctuate from the deeply personal to the abstract and philosophical, hark back to poets Allen Ginsberg and Leonard Cohen, while his music echoes Jeff Buckley, Elliott Smith and Radiohead.

Previously a member of “madcap” ska-funksters Emmett Brown, Dante’s solo career is only just starting, but recent gigs have received excellent reception and people are already talking.

Chalk Outline

Chalk Outline is the work in progress of Phil Cooper and Amy Gibson which stemmed from one night in the pub and four fatal words "Let's start a band."

Playing blues/rock covers and working on original tracks right now Chalk Outline will be rocking and drinking copious amounts of gin all over town!

Brendan Rogers

Brendan is emerging on the burgeoning folk scene with an impassioned set of widely influenced folk songs. His rousing vocals are complimented by the accompaniment of strings, woodwind and brass.

He recorded his first set of demos with Grammy winner Dom Morley (Amy Winehouse, Adele, The Police..) who approached him after seeing him play a solo show in London. On the back of these demos he then went on to secure some great support slots with the likes of the Magic Numbers, Madison Violet and Joel Plaskett.

Chloe Foy

Chloe Foy is a young female Singer/Songwriter from Gloucestershire.

Her light distinct vocals and poetic lyrics create a very pure and enchanting sound.

She has a varied musical style with her influences consisting of artists such as Joni Mitchell and Laura Marling and more recently Johnny Flynn and Bon Iver.

Fresh from winning the Live@GloucesterStudio Acoustic Competition and performing at a string of Festivals such as Big Bang and Barn on the Farm, Chloe is currently recording her debut EP set for release later this year.

Chris Evans

Crazy Arm

From Devon, UK, hard-twang, roots-punk quartet, Crazy Arm, properly set up camp in mid-2006. They very much enjoy listening to 16 Horsepower, Murder By Death, Fleet Foxes, Hüsker Dü, The Clash, Fugazi, Dick Gaughan, Austin Lucas, Ted Leo, The Replacements, Gene Vincent, Led Zeppelin, CSNY, Bruce Springsteen and Baroness, and sometimes end up sounding a bit like all of them, sometimes all at once.

Debut album, 'Born To Ruin', recorded by Pete Miles on the edge of Dartmoor, was released on Xtra Mile Recordings in June 2009. The title is a celebration of history’s conscientious trouble-makers. Not easy to categorise, and all the better for it, ‘Born To Ruin’ is an accumulation of years and years of influence and inspiration: rooted in hardcore/punk, ‘60s protest folk and classic rock’n’roll.

I, The Lion

I, The Lion is a hybrid of Heretics and Lovers with Rookie/Error to bring an epic edge to post-punk. Their powerful riffs cascade through insane drums and catchy vocal melodies on every track, sweeping audiences between fast punky beats through to crowd jumping anthems, with a result that sounds like a combination of Biffy Clyro and Taking Back Sunday.

The band began in 2008, and bring something special to every gig with their raw energy on stage, and unique light show at every gig. Audiences are mesmerized by their passion on stage, and every show they capture new fans. Originating from Cheltenham in Gloucestershire, they're heading out on the road again, and are looking to expand to the whole of the UK and Europe.

Beans on Toast

Beans on Toast is one man with a guitar, writing songs that he claims ‘have the same chords’ and ‘sound like Billy Bragg’.

Beans on Toast blends a dark wit with serious social and political satire based on a diverse range of subjects including cocaine, Tesco, London, gun crime, myspace, global warming and the Lake District. He is a friend of Frank Turner, and is mentioned in I Knew Prufock Before He Got Famous and Live Fast Die Old.

Swift Manouver

The band, have played venues across the country and Europe supporting both local and visiting artists with their unique and passionate fusion of indie/reggae. They are lively performers on stage who, not only perform their own compositions but also, make a deep connection with the audience through their lyrics. Gaining in popularity and, with word of mouth recommendation increasing the numbers attending gigs, Swift Manouver has become a much talked about subject on the music scene. They have fast become recognised as one of the best up and coming bands in the Southwest. In early 2010 they became Southwest regional finalists in the "Live & Unsigned" competition. Their song "David & Goliath" also won track of the year 2010 at BBC introducing in Gloucestershire.

The Peppermint Hunting Lodge

Spacerock pioneers The Peppermint Hunting Lodge are a tempestuously spirited sextet hellbent on leaving their mark on the music scene. Gracing cities including London, Brighton, Sheffield, Manchester, Plymouth, Swansea, and Newport amongst others, they are well travelled and back home they have built a loyal Lodge fan base. They have already graced the stage with the likes of Funeral Party, Pulled Apart by Horses, The Automatic and The Rifles, to name a few, and have left a lasting impression wherever they have performed with their relentless in-your-face energy and their impressive arsenal of catchy totemic tunes.

Their most recent recording - Kill a Tiger or Die Trying - showcases the band’s natural dynamism along with their ability to carve a hook-laden song in amongst varying time signatures. It won’t be too long before they are snapped up by a manager/label, it’s just a case of who gets to them first.

Thrill Collins

Thrill Collins are a band on a mission to revive the genre the world forgot; skiffle. The band rework the popular songbook of the "golden age of pop" into melodious rockabilly anthems. Last year saw the band tour Europe and America, and play numerous major music festivals. The band's first EP, recorded by legendary British producer George Shilling (Blur, Texas and James Brown) is out now.

Thrill Collins have been described as "one of the best live bands in the county" by BBC Introducing.

Tellison

There are four of them. They are boys. They play Fender Telecasters and Jazz Basses and Gibson Melody Makers and 1960s Ludwig drums. They care a lot and practice a lot. They met during an earthquake on the Isle of Arran, an island with remarkable diversity of landscapes and seascapes.

Tellison have released one album and several singles, they've been a Myspace Recommended Artist twice, featured on the first two seasons of Channel 4's "The Inbetweeners" and their most recent single reached no. 4 in the independent music chart. Meanwhile they've toured relentlessly and without cease and shared stages with bands like Biffy Clyro, Noah and the Whale, Tubelord, Hot Club de Paris, Johnny Foreigner and many many more.
